The chain of events following the video content viewed in Sustainable Fashion.

This blog post will be underpinned by Rolf's Reflective Framework (Rolf et al., 2001).

What happened?
Watching the video content that was referenced within this module was an effective way for me to visualise the fashion industry's social and environmental impact.
The content that I found most compelling was displayed in a manner that focused on the negative reality of the industry, where garment workers are mistreated, and the planet's resources are being stripped away.
The horrifying context of the videos meant that the imagery, stories and facts showcased stuck with me as I underwent the module.
Key videos of interest:
(ENDEVR, 2021)
(BBC Three, 2018)
(RiverBlue, 2017)
So What?
I began to think of the video content in my personal life when I assessed the production label of my clothes or when I looked at my wardrobe full of unworn and unvalued garments.
As a result, I started to ask myself:
Who made this garment that I never wear?
How much was the person paid to make this garment, and in what conditions?
In what way did the environment suffer because of this clothing purchase?
As I theoretically answered these questions, I would visualise the video content I had seen and question my contribution. This line of thinking was something I would do regularly throughout the module.
Towards the end of the module, I realised that questioning my contribution to the destructive reality of the fashion industry would not be productive without a plan to identify my purchasing habits and make amendments where possible.
What Now?
With this in mind, I plan to continue using a consumption diary to identify and tackle any recurring influences driving me to make unnecessary fashion purchases.
Consumption diary format & example:

It is important that consumers continue to adjust their consumption habits according to their values regarding sustainability and ethics. If this is achieved on a mass scale, fashion firms will be forced to act accordingly (Pereira et al., 2021, p. 2).
'Consumers play a big role in sustainability implementation and are an integral part of it' (Pereira et al., 2021, p. 3).
